An evening with two Master Sommeliers

We are absolutely delighted to welcome back Adam Pawlowski MS and Tamas Czinki MS to celebrate their individual successes as Master Sommeliers. Craig Bancroft, Managing Director, is extremely proud and excited about this unique evening – Craig mentored both young men through their journeys as Sommeliers. There are only 269 individuals who have passed the Master Sommelier exam since 1969 in the world, and just 25 in the UK, proving what an incredible achievement this is.

We are equally thrilled to announce that Magdalena Sleziak, Wine Curator & Food & Beverage Manager at Northcote, will be joining us. Magdalena is Court of Master Sommeliers-certified and holds advanced wine qualifications, her latest being her WSET Level 4 Diploma. She has recently been recognised as number 34 in the Top 50 Sommeliers 2025 by Harpers Wine & Spirit, as one of the UK’s top 100 sommeliers with Sommelier Edit, and was voted Number 5 among the “Young Sommeliers” in the 2023 list.

Craig will host this fabulous evening. Between Craig, Adam & Tamas, these three oenophiles promise an evening of indulgence in great food and wine. Vinous tales and anecdotes will flow through the evening, while you learn about the fascinating world of wine and the joys of food–wine pairing. Many of our regular guests will not want to miss this unique night – both Adam and Tamas are fondly remembered not only for their attentive service, incredible knowledge, and outstanding wine-matching recommendations, but also for their passion and friendly personalities, which became a major part of the Northcote fabric.

About Adam Palowski MS

The first Polish Master Sommelier, and one of fewer than 300 individuals worldwide to have achieved this prestigious title since the Master Sommelier examination began in 1969. His career began at Northcote, where he led a talented sommelier team and curated one of the country’s most acclaimed wine lists. He is a certified lecturer and examiner with Court of Master Sommeliers and Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and a judge at the Decanter World Wine Awards. He regularly conducts seminars, masterclasses, training sessions, and wine and food workshops. Co-author of “Hospitality. The Art of Good Service in the Culinary Industry,” a book dedicated to professional service and its role in the success of the restaurant business.

About Tamas Czinki MS

“I obtained the prestigious Master Sommelier title in 2020, becoming part of an elite group of professionals recognised for exceptional knowledge, skill, and dedication to the art of wine service. Prior to this achievement, I earned second place in the 2018 Best Sommelier of the UK competition, a milestone that reflected both my technical expertise and my passion for continuous development within the hospitality industry.

Over the course of seven years as Head Sommelier at Northcote Hotel, I was responsible for overseeing the wine program, managing the cellar, curating pairings for the Michelin-starred restaurant, and leading a talented sommelier team. My role involved close collaboration with chefs and suppliers to ensure a world-class guest experience, as well as mentoring aspiring sommeliers in their professional growth.”
