World Gin Day

Our Head Bartender Jonny Stuchberry ventured into the gardens to spotlight a selection of local gins in time for World Gin Day. The day is a global celebration of all things gin, held on the second Saturday in June every year.
Our favourite gin-based drinks are on Northcote’s drinks menu now, so if you love gin and are visiting us soon, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to sample one of these seasonal tipples!

Batch Gin and Tonic

Based in Burnley, Lancashire, Batch has a raft of awards to their name since they started distilling in 2012. Unusual botanicals in their original gin include frankincense and myrrh.
The spicy flavours in this gin are usually associated with Christmas – however, combining fresh raspberries and with Fever Tree Premium Indian Tonic, it is effortlessly transformed into the perfect summer terrace drink.

Cuckoo Gin

Sustainability is a way of life for the Cuckoo team. This spicy number is made with hyper-locally sourced and grown ingredients like the fresh spring water from the aquifer in the field next to their distiller, just outside of Chorley, Lancashire.
Cuckoo Signature Gin is a complex gin. After a slightly sweet, piney juniper start, the flavour develops into citrus from orange, grapefruit and lemons with a lingering taste of cinnamon spice and liquorice, dry on the finish with a peppery kick from coriander seeds.

Bee’s Knees is a modern take on a traditional style of sweetened gin, called Old Tom. Made with raw organic honey from the Layton Bee Project apiary.
