Phil Howard & Brett Graham
Tuesday 27th January
Phil Howard - The Square, London
2 Michelin Star
Brett Graham - The Ledbury
2 Michelin Star
The Ledbury’s Brett Graham is reunited with his former mentor and friend, Philip Howard of the The Square, Mayfair for this one night special.
Brett began his cooking career aged just 15 in a fish restaurant in Newcastle, Australia. This led to a move to Sydney and a 3 year stint under Liam Tomlin at the highly acclaimed Banc restaurant. His travels eventually carried him to London where he secured a job at The Square working for Philip and it’s therefore no surprise the awards soon followed including ‘Young Chef of the Year’ in 2002. In 2005 The Ledbury in Notting Hill opened and with Brett at the helm has since gained many accolades and today proudly boasts the much coveted second Michelin star.
Philip Howard meanwhile needs little or no introduction and has been chef and co-owner of The Square since its opening in 1991. Recognised as one of Britain’s most accomplished and respected chefs Philip took up his career behind the stove after stumbling upon a love of cooking whilst completing a degree in micro-biology.
Post university he travelled around Australia gaining his first experience of work in professional kitchens. Back in London he was fortunate to obtain a position at Marco Pierre White’s legendary ‘Harvey’s’ restaurant and the rest, as they say, is history. Whilst the style of his cooking has undoubtedly evolved and progressed, the fundamental backbone of his dishes remains unchanged, his enthusiasm undiminished and the two Michelin Stars stand testament to his success. This evening brings together two exceptional chefs for what promises to be a night to remember.
