Introduction

Home baking has enjoyed something of a renaissance over the past few years, not least helped by all the popular television programs being shown. On this intermediate course, we’ll take a look at some of the trickier recipes that have baffled many a contestant on said TV shows. On this course, you’ll learn how to make your own puff pastry, find out what makes a light and airy crumpet and have a go at making your own Battenberg cake. It’s a busy bake off but you’ll be proud of all the teatime treats that’ll adorn your afternoon tea stand at home.

You will be cooking:

  • Homemade Crumpets & Pikelets
  • Spiced Goosnargh Biscuits

If you are an enthusiastic home cook who likes to be adventurous and entertain, look for the intermediate courses for inspiration. We will enhance your competence and confidence in all areas of the kitchen and help you fine-tune your techniques. You will be quite familiar with common cookery concepts such as baking, basic knife skills, frying and grilling and able to follow a recipe. No other special skills are required as we'll teach you everything you need to know. You may be using equipment you haven’t come across before.
