Nigel Haworth scored the opening goal of the competition when celebrities, chefs and football stars gathered together on Sunday for a football tournament at Ewood Park to raise money for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

The ‘Fundraising Football’ event saw 12 teams participate in an 11 a side football tournament at Ewood Park. A total of £45,000 was raised on the day with player chefs including Nigel Haworth (Northcote & Northcote at the rovers), Glynn Purnell (Purnells), Paul Heathcote (Heathcote’s), and with guest managers including Kevin Gallagher (1993-1999), Stuart Ripley (1992-1998) and Premier League referee Mark Halsey.

Afterwards a charity dinner, auction and awards ceremony were held at Northcote at the Rovers.
