Northcote Scoops The Hotel Restaurant Team of the Year Award at Hotel Cateys 2014

We're pleased to announce we've won The Hotel Restaurant Team Of the Year Award at the Hotel Cateys 2014.

Hosted on Friday, 28th November at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, the awards – now in its eighth year – is the initiative of respected hospitality publication The Caterer and celebrates the most successful hotels, hoteliers and hotel employees across the UK.

Beating other shortlisted properties The Capital Hotel and The Montagu Arms Hotel to snag the covetable award, our win is testament to the talent and toil of the entire team here; from our chef patron Nigel Haworth, head chef Lisa Allen, director of wines Craig Bancroft and the kitchen brigade through to our front-of-house, reservations desk and housekeeping.

Part of the panel of judges, Mark Bevan, general manager at Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa, says: “Northcote stood out by demonstrating continued and relentless commitment to genuine hospitality and quality. The restaurant team cares for both its staff and guests and is well-known in the industry for extremely high standards of training.

Craig says: "We're hugely honoured to be recognised for the team at Northcote. We're hard-working and close-knit and to win a Catey for everything we achieve together is fantastic. Good old Northern hospitality is at the core of everything we do here – and we couldn't be happier."

Previous Cateys we've won have included the prestigious Acorn Award in 1987, Independent Hotel Of The Year in 2000 and the Special Award for Nigel and Craig in 2009.

Last week’s win wraps up a hugely successful year for Northcote that has seen us win 2014 BMW Square Meal Award for Best UK Restaurant, welcomed into the prestigious portfolio of Relais & Châteaux and head sommelier Adam Pawlowski become a master sommelier – one of only 220 in the world.

Here's to 2015 being even more successful for our wonderful hotel and team.

Where Life Feels Good - Lancashire Day

Where Life Feels Good - Lancashire Day

Clitheroe Castle

Lancashire Day is celebrated on 27 November, marking the day in 1295 when King Edward I invited Lancashire’s first representatives to attend Parliament. Today this historic event is marked not only by the reading of the proclamation but also by numerous events and activities taking place across the county to celebrate all things Lancashire.

To help raise awareness and encourage promotion of Lancashire Day across the UK, Marketing Lancashire has launched a social media campaign, inviting proud Lancastrians and visitors to share images that best illustrate the Visit Lancashire strap line #WhereLifeFeelsGood. The campaign will run throughout the month until Sunday 30 November and will be a showcase of everything that’s ‘feelgood’ about Lancashire, revealed through a gallery of photographs on VisitLancashire.com uploaded by the public via Facebook, Flickr and Twitter.

A panel of judges will then consider the final gallery and select a winner whose image captures the essence of our picturesque, life-enhancing and diverse county. The winner will receive a fabulous prize of an *Overnight Tasting Break for Two at Northcote, **A Year’s Supply of Dewlay Lancashire Cheese and A Year Subscription to Lancashire Life. During Lancashire Day (27 November) those uploading images or sharing messages using #LancashireDay and #WhereLifeFeelsGood, may be the lucky recipient of several spot prizes and surprises throughout the day.

In 2013 #LancashireDay reached over 13 million people, with visitlancashire the top influencer and #LancashireDay trending across the UK by early morning.

Ruth Connor, Chief Executive of Marketing Lancashire said “More people than ever are sharing their travel experiences or days-out through social media channels, making locations all over the world much more accessible.

In 2013 we reached over 13 million people through our Lancashire Day activities and this year we would like to go even further.  There are so many wonderful places, life-enhancing activities, inspiring views and delicious things to enjoy in Lancashire; this campaign will provide the world with an insight into why life really does feel good in Lancashire and hopefully inspire more people to visit and experience our famous hospitality for themselves.”

Whether it’s your favourite view on a walk with your dog, or cycling through stunning countryside, beachcombing with the kids or a Hotpot and pint with friends in your local, it’s easy to join in – just take a photo or video of your ‘feelgood’ Lancashire and upload it to Facebook or Flickr, or Tweet using the hashtags #LancashireDay #WhereLifeFeelsGood. For more information on how to take part and full terms & conditions go to visitlancashire.com/lancashireday where you’ll also find a whole host of ideas and events to celebrate Lancashire Day.

Closing date Sunday 30 November. The judging will take place shortly after and the winner notified by the end of December.

Terms & Condition apply: The *Overnight Tasting Break at Northcote is subject to availability, Sunday to Friday, there is no cash alternative available. The **A Year’s Supply of Dewlay Lancashire Cheese, is based on average adult consumption. This will take the form of a £10 voucher each month to be redeemed in person at the Dewlay Shop or as a single transaction to the value of £120.
